Dan Rosie

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Dan Rosie, a mental health campaigner and psychology graduate. I am a current trustee of mental health Charity, Advocacy West Wales and continue to work to improve mental health care within South Wales.
I am currently available to work and am always looking for new opportunities

Charity Work

As of Mid-2023, I have become increasingly involved with the work of a charity in South Wales. The objective of the charity is to act as support an individual's rights are respected and upheld whilst under mental health treatment. I am currently on the board of Trustees

Volunteer and Campaigning

In 2019 I began working with counsellors for Carmarthenshire County Council and local members of the community to improve the quality of mental health care and wellbeing within education. During this time a number of changes were proposed but due to Covid-19 and a personal commitment to University, I stepped away from the project.

Since 2023 I have returned with further experience and an increased commitment to making positive changes to education. I have begun to gather new individuals to support changes in better mental wellbeing within the local area and we aim to make an impact in areas of behavioural and social areas within the local schools, from Primary Education to Secondary and Post-secondary education.

We are still looking for people with experience to help us with this and if you think you can be of service to people get in touch (Contact Dan)

Employment

I am currently employed as an Administrative assistant for Carmarthen Camera Centre, one of the UK’s leading retailers of Photographic equipment. Photography has always been a hobby for me and one that I find helpful in mindfulness activities. I have been employed by the company for many years, usually on a seasonal basis. Currently, my role ensures that I maintain the online presence of the business, along with a professional capacity as a registered mental health first aider.

University

In 2020 I embarked on my most ambitious activity yet, by enrolling on a Psychology undergraduate degree with the University of Roehampton, London.  Throughout my time there I pushed myself heavily in both an academic sense and a personal sense.

My work balanced social psychology with psychopathology mental health. In my final year, I dedicated myself to modules which were aimed specifically at understanding mental health, autism and neurological disorders. Meanwhile, my dissertation focused largely on communication, specifically understanding how people communicate in the real world, in real-time, using conversation analysis. This was a deliberate and conscious effort to ensure not only did I have the necessary understanding of mental health training but that I understood best practices for communicating these ideas to the public, to professionals in the field, and to future clients.

When I was not reading, I was walking - and in my final year started a Roehamptons Hiking Society, where I encouraged more people to walk as a way of being mindful, an important activity for those pursuing challenging degrees.

In 2023, I graduated with First Class honours. I am a proud alumnus and thankful to the academics and peers who supported me in my education efforts. In the future, I would like to return to education to eventually achieve a doctorate within the field.
